SCARATO2007

9100 Autoville Drive

College Park, Maryland 20740

Dear Neighbor;

I want to represent you on the College Park City Council so I am running for the District Four seat in the election on January 16, 2007 from 11am to 9pm at Davis Hall. I have been a resident of the city for over 30 years, have raised my family here and have an ongoing investment and commitment to College Park.

Together with you, I would like to address the following areas, generate innovative ideas and implement workable solutions:

  • SAFETY: Improve the safety of all residents; reduce the crime rate and foster a feeling of security that allows for free and safe movement of residents and visitors day and night.
  • TRANSPORTATION: Improve both local and thru traffic; increase public transportation, bike lanes and walking paths. Traffic is a problem which must be addressed by increasing the capacity and effectiveness of existing facilities, expanding and building new facilities and most importantly reducing the need for auto traffic thru parking and public transport systems.
  • RECREATION: Improve the City center to make it more hospitable for families and students by expanding community open space with sidewalks and improved lighting, restaurants, and by encouraging and sponsoring community events.

We need to maximize College Park’s unique assets; our long time families, new residents, and the community of University of Maryland students and its administration. We should and can be powerful allies to resolve our common concerns particularly in the above areas through collaborative efforts. I strongly believe an increase in participation by each and every resident is needed to accelerate changes and I will work to achieve that by organizing neighborhood meetings to identify interests and to act on specific improvements.

Why vote for me? I will open contact with you to identify your interests and present them in a rational and persuasive manner to the city council.

I have over 40 years of experience in developing community facilities and services and always with the participation of constituents. I would like to work with you to improve College Park. My skills have been developed through international, national and local initiatives and it is my desire for my friends, neighbors and family to bring my skills to our community of College Park.

Let me work for you. Vote for me on the 16th of January!
